The project of this evening was this flowered baby bib. I'm a big fan of the fabric. The backside is terrycloth, so it can double as a washcloth after baby's dinner.
I'm working on a tutorial for it - hopefully I will post it tomorrow!
I can't wait :) I've already got my supplies and drawn my template for the burp cloths. Now I just have to get some snaps and terrycloth for the matching bibs! Thanks!!! :)
just saw your blog on the home page and decided to check it out and I think I'm in love, with your crafts that is! They are so cute, and I'm going to check out the shoe paattern because I have scraps piling up!
I agree with trina, you should definately sell on etsy.com. It's set up for people like you and I that make our products by hand. There is alot of traffic there and it would get you some attention. Your designs and concepts are adorable and would do well on etsy. I am a soap maker , bath bombs, candles etc. and I love etsy. I also have my own website for my homebased business. Alot of people look for this sort of thing.
I'd love to link you on my blog, it's also linked to my website and It would bring you some readers. Would you mind linking my blog or website on your page as well? Love you stuff and your blog. Very lovely, Rachel Soaps-n-suds.com
I just happen to come across your blog. I love all of your fun tutorial's and I'm excited to try some of the sewing projects. I'm expecting my third child (a boy) the end of May and need to make some boy burp cloths, etc. I sent you a link to my blog so you can get updates on our fam. Sarah
I'm looking for someone willing to make an apron as a gift for my husband. If you were interested and I sent the fabric and the pattern, how much would you charge? I would do it myself but my experience is limited and my sewing machine is somewhere in storage. Please let me know if you are interested. You do beautiful work. Thanks.
ok, I'm now a fan...I just kept reading all your old posts. I love homemade/handmade, can't believe I never stumbled on this blog before. I recently started learning crochet..I am really inspired to keep trying after seeing your work. You have a beautiful talent. Congrats on being a blog of note :) maria
You're very talented Jill. I'll definitely share your ideas with the indigenous women of Borneo who are talented in craft-making but need a bit of imagination and creativity to add vaue to their work.
found your blogs on the home page, too. RULDS2? lol. sorry. Lameness is part of my genetic makeup. Anyway, you are super talented and have a great sense of humor. I've added both your blogs to my page, if you dont mind. I hope to tackle some of your projects here soon. :)
I love this! The print is great! I like the fraying around the edges, too! I'm just beginning to learn how to sew and your projects give me inspiration! :)
I saw your blog on the homepage and just had to click on homemade by jill. I'm obsessed with crafts and your blog is just darling. Your other blog is too fun, I'm totally going to copy your idea of documenting NY, because my husband and I are moving to chicago for the summer.
Paricia - I bought this fabric at a store called The City Quilter in NY. I don't know the name/brand because I cut off the selvage and threw it away. Sorry! The pink flannel from my burp cloths is from JoAnn's Fabrics.
Faith G - thanks for the apron proposal, but I'm not sure I'm up to it. I am actually quite a beginner when it comes to sewing and am afraid of messing up your fabric/pattern. I would suggest contacting someone who sells aprons on Etsy (Dapper Duds - http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5084336 comes to mind). Many times, these shop owners will do custom orders.
Speaking of Etsy, thanks for all the encouragement everyone!!! It is something I have thought about quite a bit, but just haven't come to a decision about. I love the idea of it, but just hate mass-producing things. Right now, since I work full time, I just don't know if I can do both. It is in my long time plans when I am someday a stay at home mom!
Bib idea- I've noticed that longer bibs tend to work a bit better. Otherwise when goopy baby food plops out of their mouths (which it always does) it goes right onto their lap and then you have to wash their pants (sigh). Just a thought.
The button closure is awesome. They figure out velcro way to fast.

Your site is great. I LOVE the baby shoes - so cute - you should set up an online shop - they sell similar shoes here in the UK for about £35!
That was thirty five dollars not pounds!!
I loved your blog, very cute!
I hope you visited my blog!
