craft night

I am a lucky girl. Not only have I had the same fantastic best friend for the last 10 years, she recently moved here to New York! Megan and I have the best time together and even do a blog - Bee-Boppin' the Boroughs.

Tonight we got together for a crafting session and I taught her how to make a sock animal. Actually "taught" gives me too much credit - I loaned her my sewing machine and Sock and Glove book, and she went to town. And her pink argyle sock dog rocks.

So cute!
I tried to convince her to keep it for herself, but this little dog is being shipped off to a friend.

While Meg stitched away, I made fun greeting cards using a template from How About Orange. So easy, so cute. You simply print the template, and hot glue the buttons on. I could make 50 of these!

More craft nights to come...

I love that you two are getting together to do crafty things now. I remember that Meg is excellent at sewing purses and such things, how fun to expand into other areas.

And congrats on getting more popular in the blog-o-sphere!

Great ideas using buttons and lovely sock dog. The sewing machines is always a struggle with me and prefer to sew by hand. I do a lot of crafting, the things I make won't match with any decor or please your relations (not mine anyway). Well anything but cute.

Jill - this is so great! Your blog is on blogger.com's newly noticed list - I was contemplating re-starting a blog and it said on the corner "feel like browsing? here are 10 blogs we've noticed lately" and I saw yours and had to tell you! Congratulations!

Jill,
So I was actually on the generic blogspot website and there was a list of the most popular blogs, and this site was on the list. I went to it because I was interested in the craftiness, only to find out that it was your site!! You're amazing!

Love ya,
Melissa

Ok, I was so excited about this button card idea because I wanted to make my daughter's V Day cards this year (she's in K4) and thought this would be great. Well I needed buttons and a hot glue gun so off to Walmart I went. I only managed to find a few shiny pearly red and blue buttons, so I settled for those. So I ended up just making a card for Rayna's teacher and it turned out so cute. I didn't use the template for this project but I plan to make some for a few gifts later.

I wish I had taken a picture of the card. You would have liked it.
On the front it said "Roses are red, violets are blue, I am so blessed to have a teacher like you!" And I glued 5 red buttons in a circle with a peach one in the middle for the red "rose" and then three buttons in a triangle shape with a pearl button in the center for the "violet". To complete the flower theme, I printed inside the card, "It takes a special teacher to make a child blossom. Happy Valentines Day."
I was so proud of it! I let Rayna draw the flower stems on with a green crayon and sign her name on the inside. She loved it!
Sorry this was so long, but I just wanted to share and say thank you for inspiring me!
