so, want to hear about my personal life?

I don't talk about my personal life very much on this blog, since I like it to be craft-focused. However, almost a month without posting is pretty unacceptable, so I thought I'd offer an explanation (or rather, a few explanations).

So, first up, Jared graduated from law school!!! I am so proud of him - he really is a brilliant guy and has accomplished a lot since I've known him. He starts a job at a great firm here in NY in the fall. But first, he has to study, study, study for the Bar Exam.

Doesn't Jared look handsome in his robes? As you can see from the photo, we had family in town - Jared's parents, my parents and my sweet baby brother, Kevin. It was the first time to NYC for most of them, and we had a great time showing off our town.

In other BIG news, I'm pregnant! Or maybe that was obvious - my out of town friends and family said they knew it as soon as I stopped posting as frequently back in March. Here is a photo of the ever growing bump from last week:

And here is the boy, who while in the womb will be known as "Baby Jack Bauer." Because he is tough like that. Look at that face! We're pretty sure he is going to be a good one.

Becoming a mother is pretty much my life ambition, so this is an exciting time for me. We can't wait for him to arrive in October. Jared is thrilled to be having a boy, which he was certain we would have from day one.

To make life just a little more hectic, we are moving to a new apartment next Saturday. Finding an apartment in NYC is no easy feat, but we found a great place. It is a really charming pre-war apartment that has some nice architectural details. I love knowing that we are settling here for a little while and can't wait to put a little work into making our new apartment a real home. I've never been very skilled at home decorating, so we'll see how it goes! Maybe I'll post some of my DIY home improvement projects.

So, that in a nutshell is why I haven't been posting a lot of craft projects. Things have been busy around here. I do have things to post, but blogging has been bumped a few notches on the priority list. I haven't given up on the Michael Miller Baby Bootie Contest either. Luckily for me, they extended the deadline to July 7, so I plan to have my new and improved pair of booties ready just in the nick of time.

I am about 20 weeks pregnant with a little boy as well. Anyway, I love checking your site. It's fun to see where each of us have gone since the Mourik apt. days in Provo.

Congrats! What wonderful news you have all around. My husband just finished his first year of law school. Seeing that picture of your husband's graduation helps me realize that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I wondered if you were pregnant. You had lots of baby links on your post of things you want to make. Hope you get to make lots of them!!!

Oh, yay! SO much to celebrate! I had a hunch...the booties, the chick-a-dee onesie, the LONG list of crafts - many which would be PERFECT for adorning a "nest". I'm one on a few hundred visitors or more who amdires from a far. BIG congrats to Jared! A law degree AND a SON?! Holy SMOKES! Do you feel your Mary Tyler Moore moment every time you leave your apartment?

Congratulations! When you stopped posting for a while the first thing I thought was you are pregnant too, but I had baby on the brain. LOL I am 26 weeks pregnant right now and just moved across the country when my husband accepted a university assistant professorship. Things were stressful getting here but it was worth all the effort. You will be a wonderful mommie and most likely will have the best dressed/outfitted child on the block. Every stage has it's own blessings so be sure to take the time to savor them before they move on, change, well just grow up before your very eyes!

Congratulations. Babies and kids provide endless opportunity for creative expression - and your son is very lucky to have such a talented and crafty mama. I love reading your blog: I used to live in NYC (Morningside Heights) but after my husband graduated from law school we settled in the midwest. I was 22 weeks pregnant with our twins when he graduated too. What an exciting time for the two of you.
