baby bootie contest winners

The Michael Miller Baby Bootie contest winners were announced tonight on the Craft Magazine blog. I am a tiny bit disappointed, but not surprised, that mine were not included in the list - there were some really amazing entries (I mean, did you see the pair with the lights?!).

Click here to see the lucky winner (one of my favorites from the group), and runners up one, two and three. All are really beautiful booties.

It was fun to participate! It looks like I'll be sticking to my tried and true Kenmore though, probably for many years to come. Who needs a fancy Singer anyway? And mark my words, someday I'll get myself a link on the Craft Magazine blog. :)

Without sounding mean to the winner and runner ups, I thought yours were better than all of them. Maybe it had something to do with you not making them pink :)

I think they should have picked something other than just girl's booties. I thought yours were way better than the green ones with the huge bows---yuck!

They are all cute, but yours definitely offer an opportunity for those of us having BOYS to be able to see possibilities with this design! Thanks for the ideas!

Sorry you didn't win. I think it is odd that they chose all girl booties. I LOVE the winner. I think i might just try to make some of those!

I’m not surprised that they were all for girls. When I go to buy clothes for my little boy it seems the just the same way, all the really cute stuff is for little girls. I think your shoes should have got extra points because they were cute AND for boys.

I agree with the previous posters. There are tons of cute girl things, they are easy to make, and create - I do adore the pleats on the winning entry BUT you made amazing BOY booties. Hello. Yours should have won the best in show, it is way way WAY more difficult to find cute boy stuff! And your boy booties ROCK!!! I still think were the best ones, and I looked at all the entries.

(Another random thought- there is no way most of those booties would stay on and what is exciting or new about an elastic across the top? Yours are function and fabulous!)

Totally agree with Jes!

I thought your booties were super cute! Boy crafts always get the shaft:)

I absolutely love the design you made and I would have voted it ahead of the runners up and that just isn't me being nice. I agree with the others - I think it is the girly factor that had the others win. Would love a tutorial of how you made your design..hint..hint..;) .

I agree, yours were amazing! I'm surprised yours and the one with the lights didn't make it!

Though very cute, I really think yours are just as great, if not better. Very cute.

I have to agree with the other comments, with the exception of the winner, I did not care for any of the runner up's and thought your baby booties are much cuter. They should have picked a pair for a girl and a boy!
Anyway, just also wanted to say thanks for sharing the pattern for the burp cloth, as I have just made my first one, with 7 more to go. I am not an experienced sewer, but they are so easy! Thank you! They will make a great shower gift.

I can't believe they picked all girl ones. Yours were so adorable.

You've been robbed! Your booties rocked my socks off and I'm sure your little man will be the talk of the town in them.

Must agree with the majority. You should have gotten extra points for making something for boys!

I wish the contest had been put to a public vote. While the winners are cute they ALL 3 had to be girl booties? Doesnt seem right. I honestly thought you should of placed.Rigged I say.Ü

sorry you didn't win, your booties are adorable! and I never saw those firefly ones, how cute!

bec said...

i was surprised by the runner ups. the winner i could see, but i thought yours were cuter than the runner ups :) and i thought either the firefly one or the monster one would be in the top 3.

and i agree that boys get the shaft when it comes to cute stuff available.

Awww, you got ROBBED! Those booties are only meant for porcelain dolls in glass display cases -- not living, breathing, squirming babies!

Yours were way better. What a crock.

I am sorry you are disappointed. been there. well, I think yours were just amazing, and the fact that you had so many comments, before and now, prove it. those of us with boys, would TOTALLY buy your shoes for how cute they are and practical, and for the pizzaz they would add to so many outfits. and i mean it. have a great day. hope you are feeling well.

You will have the best prize in the end... they are so cute.. maybe this will start another contest next year :D

While all the winning booties are very cute, I was surprised all 4 winners were for girls. Not one pair appropriate for a little boy! I still love yours!

Okay, this is not a joke. but, you have been awarded! really... it is silly, but you can check it out on my blog, and i have also stated why... please read it when you have a chance.

Awww... what a shame - they were so cool!! But, you go girl - get that link on Craft one of these days!

I agree with the majority. Yours were adorable and functional (and for a boy!). I hate booties that don't stay on. Who wants them to fall off or have to tie a bow??? Also, did you notice that the 1st runner-up pair had the straps both going the same way - I've never seen shoes like THAT before!

Sorry to hear your weren't picked and I agree with everyone else who said that the ones picked didn't look as though they would stay on..... Yours were fully contained and looked like they would be nice and snug. Plus you made them look structured, like shoes and not like pieces of fabric to wrap around a foot. You were robbed I say!!!

Ditto Ditto Ditto!! Sorry you didn't win, but how inspiring you are for entering in the first place.

BTW, congrats on your bun in the oven. I missed you when you weren't posting, but totally get the new baby factor in your life.

I took a look at the winners and the first two were cute. But the next two - what the heck?! Yours were way nicer than those! Will you be sharing a tutorial?

I loved your booties, but I think that I am partial to the fact that they were designed for a boy and b/c I have a little boy I know how hard it is to find cool things for little boys.

Thank you for the heads up on the tutorial on quilting. I am in my felt fruit stage and hope to start quilting next month.

I gave you a little award on my blog today!

I just hope that one day you will think it is a bigger deal to get a mention on my blog rather than CRAFTZINE hehe!

My question is - why did all girl booties win?? Granted, girl baby clothes are definitely cuter than boys, but still! Let's throw the fellas a bone here! Yours were totally adorable.

I love love LOVE your blog. Thanks for all the inspiration

Julie said...

The winner's were cute but didn't look like they would stay on - yours do. The first runner up was OK but yours looked more like real shoes and I like that better. Runner up two is simply hideous and three looked very sloppy. I also think that it's sad that all the winners were girl booties. I want booties for my boy!!! Your rocked!

You betcha....We all know you will. You did your best and you entered the darn contest. Thats more than I can do, I'm still trying to start a darn quilt. Got all the stuff but just nervous of starting and getting it wrong. But you have done so much. I look forward to reading your blog each and everyday SO YOU GO GIRL. This from a grandmother.

Hey Jill-
I found your blog through a friend of mine and love all the project ideas. I was wondering if you knew of any tutorials or patterns found online for making infant car seat covers (the kind that replace or go over your infant car seat carrier). Thanks.

Hi Jill

Found your blog through Holly's. My mom is Thayne's sister Marcia. We have probably only met once. Just wanted to let you know how cute your blog is. The projects are darling. I loved the boy booties. All I have is boy's and the boy's definitely get the shaft in the clothes area.

Jill said...

Jill,
I have been lurking on your blog and finally decided that it's about time I left you a comment to tell you how awesome you are! I would have picked your shoes as the #1 winner too, by the way! You did a fabulous job, just as you do with everything else. You've inspired so many of us. Keep up the great work!
Jill
