Thanks again to everyone who gave me suggestions on how to improve my shoes - as you can see, I really took them into consideration.
A few of the changes that I made:
- A darker fabric to make the white elastic "pop"
- A white trim around the bottom to make them look more like tennis shoes
- A more interesting liner fabric
- A brighter sole (quilted this time)
Also, thanks for the photography advice and the tip on the awesome photo editing site, http://www.picnik.com/. I love it! Apologies for not shooting these outside, on some nice green grass, as many of you suggested. Unfortunately, there is no natural sunlight available at 2:30am, and if I'm not a procrastinator, I don't know what I am. :) Next time!
Thanks again for all your advice and support!

Those are absolutely the cutest booties I have seen in my entire life! I cannot imagine any that are more cute. It is so hard to find fabulous boy stuff but you really nailed it.
Will you be selling the shoes or the pattern on Etsy? (say yes say yes say yes!)
Excellent job!
These turned out great!!! Love the addition of the white trim at the bottom - totally makes them look like rubber trim!! Best of luck!!!

Jill,
Just looked at the other booties in the contest and I have to say I like yours the best and it's not just cause you're our Megan's bff. Yours are sweetly simple and not overwhelmed by weird fabric that takes away from the cuteness of the shoe. Good luck!
Those are adorable!!! I would buy these for my soon to be nephew... I think you should sell them! let me know if you do!
They are so great!!!! I LOVE THEM! Great job!

I absolutely adore these shoes--great job Jill!
so... when do you get the results of the contest? i am so excited for you and itching to know... :-)
Those turned out awesome! Good luck!
What was the name of the fabric that you used? I know that you said it was by Moda, but could you let me know exactly where to find that particular striped fabric?
Also, I was wondering if you could do a post about quilting- so a beginner could learn what quilting is all about, maybe show some simple patterns and explain what these quarters fat rolls are all about?
Thank you for your blog!
Beautiful shoes! Would love to buy a pair :) Saw your link on Marta's blog, love your blog, very fun!
mamabear -
Sorry to say I don't know the exact fabric name. I bought a fat quarter at a store here in NY called The City Quilter on 25th St.
Also, I am totally a beginner sewer and quilter. I have made one very basic block quilt and am working on two at the moment, but I am still pretty clueless myself.
There are tutorials all over online though - check out the patchwork blanket tutorial at Happy Things:

and Heather Bailey's quilt binding tutorial:

Wow, those came out great. You did an awesome job. :)
...please where can I buy a unicorn?
