Amateurish, yes, but kind of cute too. After painting the canvas with a glossy white, I used the paint can to trace the polka dot birds, and traced enlarged numbers that I printed from the computer. After a lot of paint mixing and a few little details later, I had my counting art.I like painting on canvas, since you can just hang it straight on the wall, no frame required.

No baby yet ... we are crossing our fingers that he makes his appearance sometime this week. :)

aw, I love these! They look great!
fat little birdies...fun. looks good Jill.
So cute! Great idea! I love canvas painting too- plus, it's pretty easy to fix if you mess up when you're painting.
Those are really cute!
Good luck and congratulations ahead of time!
Just adorable! The nursery looks ready for action.
Best of luck with the next week, it is just the first step in the rest of your lives!
Jill, they look great. You are so organised...
Just looking at the nursery has me drooling. Your little babe is going to be so lucky with all that handmade yumminess to welcome him into the world. The canvas chicks are darling!
They are adorable - perfect for a nursery. Good luck this week.
I think they're adorable! Best of luck with the upcoming birth. :)
I love your nursery art. What a lucky baby to have a mommy who cares enough to do all these fantastic works of art and love.
What a great idea! They are adorable! Can't wait to hear about the baby!
Super-cute and contemporary looking. Good luck with the birth and congratulations.
Hi Jill, am always nursing baby when I'm reading blogs so I apologize if I haven't left a comment earlier. Love your blog, the baby shoes, diaper cake, everything! Added you to my blogroll because all the stuff you make is so delightful - hope you don't mind. Am envious that your nesting instinct produced such gorgeous stuff - like these canvasses, for one. Mine produced just some furniture reorganization (doesn't even count as anything made!). All the best with baby and take care of your mommy self too!
Love it again! Did we ever see pictures of the finished crib bedding? I know you posted the fabric samples of it.
How adorable!! I love it. Such a great idea!
Another great idea Jill, your baby will be very happy about this project.
Those are so sweet!
Congratulations on your upcoming new baby boy! I am sure he will be beautiful. Oct. 21 is a good birthday! I love reading your blog.
Do you have to have a kid to want this? So cute.
Nice job! Those are great!
Completely adorable. Good luck over the next few days!
so someone commented on how if you mess up the canvases are easy to fix. How? can you give more explaination?
I assume she meant that you can just paint over it and start again. They are reusable when you get sick of your first masterpiece. :)
I think these are great! I'll be linking to this fun project!
Okay, I have spent my morning looking at your blog...and I LOVE everything you have done! Seriously...is there anything you can't do? I have about a million craft projects I want to "attempt" now.
p.s. I hope everything goes well with you and your little guy. Good luck!
Those are adorable! I love them :) I'll have to keep them in mind whenever we decide to have kids!
These are so sweet! Great job! Hope he comes soon!
I love those! I don't think they look amateurish at all. Very creative!
THose little birds are so cute! They look great in the nursery.
Very cute and I love how they go with the bird mobile you made earlier. I'm excited for you in the birth of your new baby. I found your blog a few weeks ago and have really enjoyed looking at all the great crafts you make. I'm going to get around to recreating a bunch of them myself...first I'll make a tag blanket like you made for a friend of mine that had a baby last month. I'll be checking in on your blog to await the news of your baby coming soon. Blessings, Kathy
absolutely adorable! i keep waiting for the day that i'll check your blog & there won't be a new update, which will happen a few days consecutively, and then eventually there will be a picture of the little guy. :) good luck!
Very cute! BTW you look adorable in the photo in the headband post :)
Very cute as always, babe. I can't wait to see what you do next. Best wishes this week on the baby. I can't wait to see pictures. I just know he's going to be beautiful. :)
Not amateurish at all - these would stand proud in any nursery boutique & with a huge price tag! Love your blog.
Lots of luck.
