I may be getting carried away. Freezer paper stenciling is so fun!

the assembly line

sock monkey shirt for our buddy Jack who is turning 2

Oscar's sock monkey shirt sadly went wrong. wah, wah....
Anyone know what makes the paint bleed? I did both onesies the same way.

Lastly, some little angel wings for Valentine's Day. I think Oz will make a cute cupid.

Hi Jill, I love your blog. You have so many great ideas & I'm a sucker for a good tutorial. And your baby is adorable which is an added bonus - everyone loves eye candy even if it's pint size.
Wow, these look so cute, love the sock monkey one. Was there a tutorial I missed somewhere on how to do this?
Those are super cute!
Rose, I can't remember right off hand but I think she got it from here: http://panjokids.blogspot.com/2008/06/freezer-paper-stencils.html
At least that's where I got the idea.
They turned out so cute. I've been wanting to give them a try but haven't yet. Valentines would be the perfect excuse to give it a go.
Love this...how do you do it? Is there a tutorial
You rock! Please post instructions!
did you also iron some freezer paper on the underside of your design. In the tutorial it mentioned she did this, I wonder if that is why? So weird that you chose sock monkeys! After seeing your baby onesie i thought to make my little one a sock monkey shirt! Anyway, I haven't gotten to that yet, but if you didn't try the freezer paper on the under side--try that!
They look so stylish and darling! Where are you finding your awesome stencils?
Where did you find the sock monkey?
So cute! I wonder - did you do Jack's shirt first and Oscar's second? Maybe you need a fresh stencil with the freezer paper. I don't know though. The angel wings are adorable!!
The sock money is great! I love this project!
Angry Chicken blog said to iron another freezer paper to the back to stabilize and avoid bleeding through, also a fresh stencil must be used for each shirt. Not sure if you used it twice but that could also be the reason. They look so cute. I'm awaiting my first grandson the end of March so I think some spring and summer theme onesies will be great. Loved you shirts and Oz is just the cutest. Auntie M
So did the steam make it bleed through? There has to be a clever border or something you can use to salvage the onesie. Maybe a square of fabric or something.
Nope, I used a new stencil and even had the freezer paper underneath. Maybe I just used too much paint. He'll wear it anyway! :)
Love it!
I've been lurking on your blog for a while. Time to introduce myself. Hi! lol. I used your burp cloth tutorial to make some for my baby when she was born, the baby legs, and the baby shoes tutorial you posted too. Right now I'm working on quilting - but I'm going to keep watching this blog for more great baby stuff! PS the boy is adorable - just a little younger than my baby!
that is super cute. I love the wings- all you need is a little devil tail stenciled near the bottom and its complete!
I just started a craft blog, you've inspired me to post my crafts. Not like I do them often.

these shirts are so cute! Where did you find your stencils?
Darling as always! Thanks for the inspiring ideas!
Hi Jill, just have to say...LOVE your blog! at http://hoppobumpo.blogspot.com/
they have a PDF "tips for freezer paper stencilling" it talks about bleeding in it too. hope it helps.
Jill, Oscar's wings are adorable! He's going to be a little heart throb! :)

I did this technique with bleach instaed of paint. Two ended up with too much bleach so it just wouldn't dry. I learned to use corrugated cardboard inside the shirt and only apply a thin layer of paint (bleach). Too much paint is probably the culprit. But I love it anyway!
Hey Jill, I love your blog and all the cute ideas. The shirts are super cute. I also came across a different stenceling technique that seems pretty easy (I haven't tried it yet) and the cool part of it is that stencils are reusable. Here's the link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugbo20z90Hk -
maybe it ca help you with your mass-production :)
P.S. Your little guy is adorable!
Love the onsies! I have a big/little jack too! all your stuff is so cute. can't wait to see more. thanks for being inspiring. pamela www.frenchknots.blogspot.com
Hi Jill - I just found your blog a couple of days ago! I love it! Thank you for all of your fun ideas... You have inspired me :)
TOO CUTE!!! I love these!
Hi - just found you blog & Love it! I was wondering if you know how to sew cute little Smart Pants for babies or know where to find a pattern on line. I just done sewing the baby legs for my soon to be baby and they are so cute and I thought little hot pants would be adorable to sew for her.
Thanks
Lynette
I have two suggestions/ideas about the bleeding: When you iron the stencil down just place the iron straight down on the stencil, don't slide it back and forth as that can cause bubbles or cause the edges to come up. And when you start to paint only brush towards the center of the image (away from the ironed down edges) because if you go towards the edges it can cause bleeding. I hope this makes sense and maybe helps!
I gave you an "award" on my blog.
How is everything going...know how a busy mom must be. Anyway can't wait what is next. Have a great Valentine with your family.
Yes! You should open a factory. I would LOVE an angel wings onesie! Love them all :)
