quiet book, page 4

Here is my barnyard themed page 4. The embroidered windmill took a lot longer than expected, so this page cost me two nights.

I added a bit of texture by using white velvet ribbon on the barn doors (which are felt) and brown suede for the "trough" inside. When Oscar opens the doors, he'll find three little felt finger puppets.

I am really digging this page. My mom gave me a lot of good suggestions for this one. Someone asked in the previous post where I am getting the ideas for my pages. So far, I have come up with them on my own (with a little collaboration on this one with mom).

I am a spur-of-the-moment type of crafter, so when the idea pops into my head, I just start cutting fabric. I use the materials I have on hand and just wing it.

Tomorrow I'm planning to do a robot page - it will go well next to the spaceship page, don't you think?

Between my two kids they have 3 of these type of books. We loved them! Their pages have "Dressy Bessy" type of activities involving snapping, buttoning, tying, and zipping - there are also a lot of velcro activities. This book is still popular when I bring it out for little kids! Your son will love it.

My grandparents made me the most amazing book like this when I was younger. It got lost over the years but I remember some of the pages. I remember my favorite was a fishing page where the fishing rod with a string that had a hook end of a hook/eye closure and there was a little pouch of fish, each with an "eye" end. It was great for hand/eye coordination trying to attach the fish to the hook. Just an idea for your book! Love your blog!

Ashley - I love that idea! I just may have to do a fishing page.
