I am really into refashioning lately, so my apologies if this is getting boring. Sometimes macy's just has too good of a sale, and I end up buying things that don't quite work for me. I found a few sleeveless tunic shirts on mega-clearance recently. No before-photo (I am a doofus and forgot), but it's not hard to imagine - it looks just like the shirt pictured above, but sleeveless and about 6 inches longer.I am a sleeves-wearing kind of gal, so I just chopped off the bottom 6 inches of the shirt and used that extra fabric to make sleeves. I cut the sleeves out of each side of the shirt, since the back wasn't wide enough to cut two. There was a little vent on each side of the shirt, but that worked for me. I just added a button closure to the sleeves (see below) using buttons from the discarded front of the shirt . The sleeves were made exactly like my t-shirt tutorial. The only difference is this shirt was lined, so there are two layers.
Hem the bottom of the shirt and bada bing, you're done.
Stay tuned for the next refashion ... same shirt, completely different use.

well done!,I'm not that brave yet.
I really enjoy keeping up with your site. thanks for all the fun info.
I love it! I'm going to have to start looking at more sleeveless shirts and seeing if there is a little extra fabric at the bottom...hmmm, the possibilities...great job!

oh wow! I think it's one of my favorite refashions I've seen so far!!
Gotta love it! You're so resourceful. And great color on the shirt too.
That turned out really cute :)
That really came out beautifully, and I have to say I am pretty sure I would have hated the sleeveless version the store sold you.
You are amazing. The shirt looks perfect, just like it was purchased that way. I sure wish I had some of your skill, I could do awesome things with stuff that I end up taking to the DI.
MAN you're a GOOD seemstress! I would NEVER take a close up picture of ANY of my sewing projects! hee hee.
Love the sleeves! The slit with the button closure is my favorite part of the whole shirt.
So fun and exciting. You are pretty darn creative. Can't wait to see what's next.
How incredibly clever ;-)
How did you even think of that?!
you are fabulous! Looks easy enough...now I have something to do during naps...
Love the shirt refashions! Keep them coming!

This is genius! Love it!
That is such a cute shirt, you are so creative. I am not on that level of sewing yet, maybe one day.
Adorable refashion! I love refashion, so keep it coming!
Totally awesome! Congratulations.
I LOVE the shirt!
I was so inspired after seeing your post! When I was our shopping last weekend, I found a dress that was too big but on super clearance, so I bought it and went to work! I took in the sleeves and the sides by the bust and you can't tell that it was altered. Granted, my alteration job was not nearly as complex as yours, but I was very proud of myself and I just love my fabulous new dress for 78 cents!
i love refashioning. don't stop!
your sleeves look great. i really like the slit. it adds a nice detail.
