Halloween 2009

This year for Halloween, Oscar is going to be an Eastern Bluebird.  I thought it was appropriate for him, since he will probably be my only east coast babe.  And of course, because he looks so darn handsome in blue.

The template and instructions for this costume can all be found at marthastewart.com.

So, do you have felt coming out of your ears right now?? He looks really adorable in this, and much more pleased to be wearing a beak hat and wings than I think my toddler would be! Did you make the leg warmers yourself too?

Our Halloween (and costumes) are a bit up in the air right now - it's going to be about 40 degrees so we might have to do some serious cold-weather alterations if we plan on leaving the house!

My gosh this is ADORABLE! We also have some cold weather issues at the moment (we live in Fairbanks, Alaska), so pretty much all of our costumes are being made from fleece. I wish we lived somewhere warmer so they could trick or treat and wear cute little costumes like that one. Very nice work!

Very cute! Love the little leg warmers! It would be cute if they were yellow. I’m not sure if my little one would have cooperated enough for this, but it looks like Oscar is a good sport! And adorable at that.

Yes, I did make the legwarmers, using this Flickr tutorial.

And yes, the would have probably been cuter in yellow or orange. But I couldn't find yellow or orange socks in the right length and already had these blue ones on hand. I think they still look good, and are actually more true to the eastern bluebird.

What a good lookin' blue bird!! I'm impressed he kept it on during the "photo shoot". GREAT job!!!
On another cute note: As i'm looking at this post, my one year old son comes walking by and sees Oscar in his costume and smiled. He then proceeded to play peek-a-boo with him :)
