You know what I love about November? It still feels like there is plenty of time to make homemade gifts. Black Apple Dolls are one of my favorite little girl gifts to make. They are a fast project, easy to customize, and oh so very cute (the free pattern doesn't hurt either).
My favorite in this bunch is the dark-haired twin with the blue flower brooch. They could all use shoes and winter accessories, but I have to be somewhat realistic about my time. :)

I like the pink one with the headband. Did you embroider the face? I’m afraid to attempt paint the face, so I haven’t tried this pattern. Even though the dolls are so cute!
I embroider the faces instead of using paint. Safer, in my opinion! :)

Love these dolls. Last year I made a Rapunzel one based on Shannon Hale's Rapunzel's Revenge. The idea was to give the book and the doll to my little girl, but the doll was just too cute. Now she's in my craft room sitting on a shelf where she makes me smile.

those came out really cute.. what type of fabric did you use for the skin
I used a beige flannel for the skin because I had it in my stash. If I were to buy fabric specifically for the project, I'd probably choose quilting cotton because it would be less likely to pill.
What technique do you use to sew the top of the head closed so that it's not very noticeable or lumpy.....two things I expect that mine will be when I attempt this, so I'm asking ahead of time ;) Thanks!
Thanks for posting these - I just made my first doll for a friend's one year old. I liked your use of embroidery so I also embroidered rather than going with paint.
