a happy cookie mistake

I was going to blog today about a cute little top I made for baby, but it is hanging in Oscar's closet and the boy is sleeping.  I don't have pictures yet and certainly don't mess with naptime.

So ... instead I am baking chocolate chip cookies.  They are in the oven as I type.  Don't you hate when you are just short of an ingredient?  I didn't quite have enough vanilla, so I topped off my teaspoon with almond extract (it was probably about 1/4 teaspoon, maybe less) and the result is a magically delicious cookie.  It might permanently change my recipe.

Also, I can no longer see my feet if I'm standing straight.  Three more weeks!

Yes, I too have done the almond thing and it is far from a mistake!! I normally use my almond extract for making biscotti but tried it with cookies and delish! I like your yellow "Homemade by Jill". It is a cheery change. Sorry, the stripes were just too much for me. Enjoy naptime. Number one rule to parenting: Never wake a sleeping baby!!!

Yum almond. I can't imaging it tasting anything other than delicious!!

I liked the stripes :P

I made cookies today as well, but I had enough vanilla... I'm gonna try with the almond extract next time for sure.

And I too can't see my feet anymore... It's probably better that way as they started swelling from water retention!

We are gluten-free over here and my favorite flour is a rice/almond flour. I LOVE making choco chip cookies with that! it makes great snicker doodles and cinnamon rolls too!
Happy 3 more weeks!

sounds yummy! I think I'll try that next time! I can't believe it takes you until you're three weeks away from delivering until you can't see your feet! I stop seeing mine about 3 months in! :) Best of luck with your delivery!

Hi, I haven't commented on here yet, though I've been reading for a few months now. So why start commenting now? I couldn't resist telling you that I no longer can see my feet either (I have 2 1/2 weeks left!) and it resulted in an unhappy mistake. I thought I looked so cute last night running errands--I was wearing my fairly slenderizing black tank dress with a green tank under it and my matching green earrings and my matching green old navy flip flops. It wasn't until this morning that I looked across my bedroom and saw my grey flip flops sitting there. "How did those get out? I didn't get them out! Oh no." Yes, I was looking for my shoes in very dim lighting before leaving and saw the little "old navy" printed on the shoes, so I believed they were the ones I was looking for. Since I never, at any point, saw my feet last night, I had no idea until this morning that my shoes didn't match. :(
Love your blog! Thanks for letting me tell my long story.:)

Yay for having only three more weeks!

I make mine like that all the time except with all almond extract. I sometimes add almonds too...that makes the Amaretto Chocolate Chip Cookies. I have never shared them and didn't get tons of compliments!

You should try sugar cookies with almond extract---sooo good! I use it for the base of fruit pizza--I may have to make some now. Good luck in those last days!
