oscar had a little lamb

Oscar has recently been picking up on animal sounds and is particularly smitten with sheep.  Whenever he comes across a picture of one, I hear BAA! BAA! BAA! over and over until I acknowledge that, yes indeed, that is a sheep.  It is pretty cute.

With that in mind, and since I haven't sewn in over a week (oops), I whipped up these lamb pillows during Oscar's nap today.  I'm sure you've seen the project before ... it was originally posted as a tutorial on The Purl Bee back in March.   Or maybe you saw Dana's adorable fleece version on MADE.

I also used fleece for my lambs for both the bodies and face/limbs.  It makes them very snuggle-worthy and will be much more washing-machine friendly than the wool felt (although that looks lovely).  I also turned the legs upside down because I liked the rounded end better than the pointed end.  Sometimes I get really wacky like that.  ;)

With only four weeks to go until baby sister arrives, it is definitely time to start crafting in double time.  I embroidered the kid's names on the pillows ... though I doubt that will stop Oscar from claiming both lambs as his own.  So to my dearest friend Megan, who said I would never make personalized crafts past my first baby, I say, ha!  Take this! (and also, I love you)

THEY TURNED OUT SO CUTE. I AM SO IMPRESSED THAT YOU HAVE ANY ENERGY TO SEW AT ALL. YOU ARE A TROOPER WITH FOUR WEEKS TO GO.

AT 20 MONTHS MY SON IS ALSO SMITTEN WITH MAKING ANIMAL NOISES. MAYBE HE NEEDS A LITTLE LAMB AS WELL. THANKS FOR SHARING.

I'm impressed too! I think I only sewed a few times while pregnant and haven't even looked at my machine since he was born (8 weeks ago!). You so inspire me! =) I LOVE those lambs!

I also have 4 weeks left, and the only thing I can think about is sleep and all of my unfinished projects. :) Thank you for inspiring me to get off the couch (or home from work) and get crackin!!!

I'm LOVING these little sheepies!

These are too cute! I LOVE the name Ruby!! I wanted to name my oldest daughter that, but my husband doesn't like it... My daughter was due Christmas Eve which happens to be my great grandmother Ruby's birthday... and the day before on Joseph Smith's birthday is my grandmother's birthday... and Christmas day is my husband's grandmother's birthday. We agreed that if she was born on one of those days, we would give her their name as her middle-name. I guess Ruby just wasn't meant to be, because she was born Christmas Day.
Okay, that was really long... I just wanted to say, that I really like Ruby!

My daughter is 2 & makes all kinds of animal noises! I have mines cute out to sew but I need to sew them! & oh man Ruby is such an adorable name! & a cute sibset Oscar & Ruby (reminds me of the show Max & Ruby!) Sorry I love baby names! I had Ruby on my list for my daughter Elodie but it went from first name to middle name and eventually got lost in all of zillion of baby names I love. You are indeed a trooper with 4 weeks left and sewing! btw your daughter is gonna have the best homemade clothes ever! :)

aww! love the names on them! I made one awhile back out of black fleece with tan felt. I turned my legs upside down too - on accident! but I liked it better anyways.

Jill, these are so adorable. I keep adding your projects to my to do list. Can't wait to make one of these for my little munchkin. And I agree it is totally possible to make a personalized thing for each and every child... keep up the good work!

Adorble.

Has Oscar ever watched "Sean the Sheep"? It is a little 10 minute cartoon on Playhouse Disney weekday mornings at around 7:50. By the folks that made Wallace and Grommit. It is about sheep who try to out smart the farmer and play tricks on him. Very cute. My daughter loves it. Especially the baby sheep who has a binky.

My 7 month old is named RUBY! I obviously looooove that name! I'm sure your baby girl will be as sweet and wonderful as ours. We like to call her Rubes for short.

Hi Jill,
I love the sheep, but could you put a coin in the photos in the future to give us a little scale?
Thanks, Kathy

I loved these lambs so much. I showed them to my 4 year old and she wanted me to make 1 for her friend, for her birthday. So we worked on it together. It turned out so cute and the little friend loved that it was so soft.
