picnik love

One of my favorite blogs, I Am Momma - Hear Me Roar, posted some great photo editing tips today using my favorite site, picnik.com.  She even made three little instructional videos to highlight some of the better features.  I've been a long time picnik user, but I still learned several helpful tips.

Here's one of my favorite baby photos of Oscar at 2 weeks old, edited using Cheri's baby photo tips.

It makes a big difference!  Just thought I'd share.  :)

I am a big fan of picnik. My camera is pretty crappy but picnik always makes my pictures look great.

...and my goodness, Oscar is so adorable I can hardly take it. God bless his little soul.

So cool! I'll have to check this out. And what a darling picture of your little guy. I love how much hair he was born with! My 11 month old little girl still doesn't have that much. :-)

He is too cute.
I am not a fan of editing pics though. I don't care if they have pimples, scrapes, dirt, I like them to be natural. Those are the things I want to remember.

I'm a photographer and know how helpful Photoshop and other programs are to help getting your pictures how you imagined them. You did a good job with correcting the exposure and color management, but I would ease off the smoothing on the face- it's helpful for older people who dislike their wrinkles, but not necessary for babies. Part of the reason we take pictures is to remember how things were and what they looked like, not that they were perfect.

Interesting comment by the anonymous photographer. He/she captured what I was thinking...that Oscar misses the "fresh baby" look in the touched up photo. He looks older, smoother. Still very beautiful (or handsome), but older. Sometimes it is best to keep that newborn look in the earlier photos. It goes so quickly.

Oh, and Sarah said her 11 month doesn't have that much hair...I have to laugh because my almost three year old daughter doesn't have that much hair yet.

On another note...Congratulations on the birth of Ruby! Recover and see you soon.
