I made the cards in Powerpoint using the cutest clip art I could find, and a few simple images I made myself (like the balloon and kite).
UPDATE: I don't have a secret source for the clip art - it was all from the basic library that comes with Microsoft Office. You can also download their clip art for free online.
There are two cards for each letter (I wanted to capture all the long/short, hard/soft letter sounds), so I plan to put the matching letter cards back to back, have them laminated, and loop them on a metal ring. I think I'll make flashcards for colors and numbers as well.

these really are awesome. thanks for sharing.
Like a bunch of the other commenters, my 2 year old will love these. THANKS!
my kids love www.starfall.com and I love that it teaches the sound the letters make. Very interactive and fun. You're creativity is endless.
Thanks for sharing. Love, love the graphics.
Do you mind a suggestion? I hope not, 'cause here goes. When we read X it usually makes a ks sound like in the end of box and fox. X almost never makes the z sound like it does in xylophone, so it helps children learn to read X if you use a word ending in x not beginning in x for your X spot in the alphabet. Fox or box would both be great to replace xylophone.
Hope you didn't mind my soap box, but teaching kids to read is a passion I have.
SO CUTE!! Thank you so much for sharing! My 15 month old will love them!
Thats brilliant! I like that when you make your own cards you can use things your child is familiar with :)
CUTE cards!
My 3 yr old can recognize and say all of the alphabets in any order and knows all the phonic sounds each letter makes and I can't take the credit b/c he learned it all from watching the LeapFrog: Letter Factory DVD! It's so amazing to watch him do it and he loves it! I have all the LeapFrog DVDs and all my kids enjoy them. I'm hoping the 2 yr old follows in his footsteps.

Oh my gosh! I love these! They are adorable. Thanks so much; I think my 3yo and 18mo will love them too.

Amazing, Jill! Thanks so much for sharing these.
Wow, thanks Jill. Those are super cute. My son is learning his letters too, thanks to his Tag Jr. Alphabet book. I'll definitely make a set of these for him and maybe one for my nephews.

Too cute! Just downloaded mine :o). THANKS so much!!!
I did a similar idea for my daughter's second birthday - I used the $1 photo books from Walmart and printed 4x6 photos of each of the cards I created in Publisher. I did it with ABCs, Numbers, and Colors. I think it's time to do some for my son, since his 2nd birthday is just around the corner! :)
I'll ask what several others have - what is your source for cute clip art?
Thanks!
Thank you!! Thank you!! Love it!!
These are wonderful! Very creative! I thought they were so great that I made a post about it and a link on my blog to yours! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!

These are so cute! Thank you!
Hi Jill,
what a great idea for the kids who are starting to get curious about letter and numbers.
I really loved your idea.
And it's funny, I'm from Portugal and my 2 years and 4 months old son, is also learnig really fast the letters with the same SUPER WHY animated show - I loves it.
Congratulations on your blog, it's great.
All the best,
Monica
SO cute!! Thanks for the idea. I'm making some for my kids. I want to do numbers, colors and shapers, as well.
Adorable! I'm linking up to this over at my literacy blog. http://www.onthelap.org Stop by sometime and visit.
I love these! I have a question: Where do you print things like this? My color ink jet isn't very good quality and would go through 12 cartridges! Can you take a PDF file to a Kinkos or Staples?
D-L - you could definitely take it to kinkos. I've never printed things at staples, but I imagine they do that sort of thing.
Thanks for sharing! I've got a little one and we'll be using these as she grows!
Thanks for sharing these!!
Hi Jill. :) I know this is an old post, but I was wondering if something happened to the file because I can not seem to download it without subing to Scribe. Can you let me know what is happening with that? Thank you! And thanks for the wonderful cards! I can't wait to get and use them with my 3 yr old.
Blessings,
Val
I am also having problems with the Scribd application and cannot download these super cute flashcards. :( Help!
Me too, having problems with the scribe.
I'm having trouble with Scribd too! Guess I should have printed these off a long time ago...
These are awesome. Thank you so much for sharing.
I can't print this out anymore either. They want you to pay for a subscription and I don't think it's worth it if only using it for this one item. Are you able to email the file to odomamo1@frontier.com if so thanks
Wonderful idea!
I can't print out from the link, and they ask for payment at the site now. Would you be able to email the file to:
bibay45@aol.com
Thanks :)
Jill,
Love the alphabet cards. I'd love them emailed to me directly. Is there anyway you can do that?
turner03@gmail.com
If you are emailing them out, I wouldn't mind an email. I also could not download them from scribd. Thanks so much!!! Your talent is amazing!

TheCubClubDaycare@gmail.com
A google search brought me to your site via the crafty crow - love what I found. You are super generous for offering your flashcards that you put all the effort into, and super smart for including the extras for long/short and hard/soft sounds. Since they are archived by Scribd, I wasn't able to download them, but if you have another download option or you'd send via email, I'd love to use them with my son!
Thanks!
thanks for sharing these great work, but am having problems downloading, Can you please email it to me at adechong@hellokitty.com
thanks alot.

Hi Jill!

Thank you so much for making these available. I'll be giving them to my daughter for Christmas as she absolutely loves her letters.
Korean children learning their first english will thank you also.
Wow! Like everyone else, I just want to thank you for sharing these gorgeous cards.
Hi, thanks for sharing. It's a lot of work, looking forward to using them with my 18 month old.
These are beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
I LOVE your flash cards, especially how you had the hard/soft vowels! Do you happen to have your original Word file by any chance? I'd love to use your cards, but I'd like to make the letters a little bigger and more pronounced than the pictures... I'd be happy to send back my adjustments if you want... in any case, thanks for posting!
Tiffany B. bendevt@yahoo.com
What font did you use?
great to share, just wondering if you would re-post and remove the pdf, so can make some changes, or adjust size. (ie letter o doesn't have long o sound)
Thanks for sharing. Would you consider not posting pdf, so we can make changes, additions? Letter o needs a long o sound, and I would like to make them a little bigger.
These are just wonderful for my grandson. Thank you so much for sharing them with us!
These are great! Thanks for sharing them.
