I got a little crazy with the hot glue gun this weekend and made a bazillion baby headbands. Don't worry, they are not all for Ruby.
Not needing to re-invent the wheel, I used a bunch of tutorials from around the internet:
the purl bee - felt rose barrette
little miss momma - scrunch fabric flower pom pom tutorial
little birdie secrets - fabric rosebud tutorial
not martha (on holidash) - felt dahlia
i am momma - hear me roar - rolled felt flower
These are my favorites:
After all that hot-gluing, I am a bit short on fingertips.
In other news, I inherited the crafty contents of my ward's Relief Society (the women's organization at my church) closet. Which means I have a big box of vintage supplies. Actual vintage, not "vintage." I'm so excited. More to come on that later.

Gorgeous! What do you use as the headband part? Is it just elastic or do you sew fabric?
Thank you! I have 3 little girls and can't wait to get started on some of these. I love your blog. :)
Love 'em. Wish my daughter would wear headbands!
I second the first comment. Looks like elastic. Just wondering where you get it from. these are all adorable!

What timing! I was actually heading to the store later to get supplies to make some too! I'm going to try both elastics and stretch lace. I have 2 girls (2 yo and 5 mo) so figure I'll try a variety and see what works best.
Lovely. What a fun collection.
(The elastic looks like Fold Over Elastic, which can be found in a variety of colors on Etsy.com)
ADORABLE!! Do you sell these?? I want to make some but can never find the time and my baby has a gorgeous head of hair that would love some pretty flowers! I love your blog, so much inspiration!
Your headbands turned out fabulous! So glad you tried the POM POM style!

What did you use for the headband base? I just threw a hair clip making party this week with some friends and used lots of the same tutorials! I loved the purl bee rose!

So, so cute! I like the black band with the red poinsettia-looking flower!
I LOVE the vintage (not "vintage") notions. I received some in my grandmother's sewing basket after her death and I occasionally find some at the thrift store, too.
nice Jill. I bet the RS goods are gonna be fun. I can only imagine how ancient they could be...
darling headbands. i just had a little girl a few weeks ago and i cant wait to make her some of these. thanks for posting.
wow those are sooo cute! thanks for posting the links! and how exciting on your inheritance!
They are way cute... that's on my to do list this week too... My girlies are in desperate need of head accessories!
where do you get the actual headbands? the elastic you know... I don't dig those thick crochet head bands so much... I like the thin/subtle/delicate kind like the ones you showed!
So cute! Thanks for providing the links, too. I was already planning on doing some crocheted flower headbands for a little christmas gift. Now I can throw in a little more variety. :)
The thicker headbands are made of Fold Over Elastic, which you should be able to find in the elastic/trim sections of most fabric stores. It comes in many colors and is great for baby headbands because it is so soft and stretchy.
The cream colored headbands are made out of plain old elastic, but it is different than the packaged kind. It was sold by the yard at my fabric store (for cheap - only 60 cents a yard) but it feels like a cotton elastic instead of polyester. It is also quite soft, and not as stiff of an elastic as the packaged kind.
If you are looking for good elastic, just go to your fabric store and feel them all. Chances are, if it is soft and stretchy, it will make a good headband. :)
OMG!! My Gpa (passed on) retired from Woolworth's YEARS ago. That is amazing. I have not seen that packaging in soooo many years.
I will show this to my mom and gma. They will cry!!
Thanks for sharing. Seriously that picture just flooded me with so many great memories. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Jill! Thanks for the get well wishes. :) It was so nice to hear from you! Sure miss the good ol' days. What I wouldn't give to be running up and down a football field right now or playing with all the PETE group. :) Glad you're doing so well. I love your site. :) Lotsa Loves!
Hi Jill, all of them are so cute!!
Would you tell me what do you use to do the hadbands? Is it elastic? Do you made it or bought ready and only glued or sewed the flowers? I live in Brasil and I never saw it here. If it is elastics how do you lock it? With glue or sew? thank you for sharing the wonderful tutorials. kisses from Brasil
i love these!!! i have to ask where do you get your headbands??? im in need of some for my little girl! do you make the headband part yourself?
How sweet.. I know the sweetest little girl to make some for. Thanks for some great ideas!

The pink and brown headband with the cream flowers...how do you make those flowers???
Is this my cousin Jilly Bean's blog???? How did I NOT know you had this awesome fantastic blog about crafting! I am in love. And to think I found it blog surfing! You are awesome. LOVE IT! How did you do the headband part on teh brown headband???
Claire, are we related? I feel so rude, but I can't even think of a cousin Claire. But I have dwindling brain cells these days, so my deepest apologies if I am forgetting an obvious connection.
As for the headbands, the brown one is made of Fold Over Elastic (find it in the trims section of your fabric store). It is very soft and stretchy, and makes great baby headbands.
Do you sell these? There are a few I'd love to have!
awwww don't you sell these on etsy for those of us that aren't crafty? i love love them!!
There so beautiful!!! What a cute creation!!!
If you don't mind, can you tell me where I can by those hairbands which has soft colors like a pink and ivory. There are only bold colors like a red and blue at Michael's. Thanks for sharing!!!
