One thing Jared does love is friends and family. So I asked them all to email me a photo of themselves holding a happy birthday sign, had the pictures printed in a large size, and stuck them all up on the wall in the middle of the night.
For my family photos, I made some fun little party hats using the template at Oh Happy Day. I glued some pretty papers to plain white cardstock before cutting them out with the template. Very easy and festive!

Jill, that is a super cute idea. Love how all your friends made signs. I wonder if you scanned them if you could make a slideshow he could see on his computer? That is if he uses a computer for work! :)
PS. Happy Birthday Jared!
That is the cutest idea ever! Since both my husband and I live hundreds of miles away from family...I may be stealing this idea! Thanks!! :D

So, I want to comment on that first picture of Ruby - I love it! I'm in a photography class right now, and I would love to know how you shot that picture. Did you use photoshop to soften the background?
Ash - I don't have photoshop, but used Picnik.com to soften the background.
SOOOO have to do this for my hubby! Love it! Thanks....

Great idea! I'm stealing it!!!!
Hey, my birthday was over the weekend too! happy birthday to your hubby!
(and I love this idea, but it would embarrass my hubby to no end to ask his friends to take a picture like that. Yah. He's a tough one!)
Thay's an awesome idea! I might copy you next year as my husband turns 50
That is such a fun idea I will be sneaking it away for a birthday in my house later in the year. Thanks for sharing.

LOVE the "facebook wall"! Totally stealing that idea!! Too bad my hubby's bday isn't for another 11 months now... ; )
What a FANTASTIC idea, I'm totally filing this one away for P's bday. CLEVER!!!
Btw, 6 mths old is AWESOME. I feel like we've finally made it over the hill (knock on wood). Ruby looks adorable, can you believe how quickly these little ones grow up?!
What a sweet idea! Very cool!
Ой как вы весело поздровляете мужа.
My husband is the same way. Well, as far as not wanting a big ta-do and buying himself what he wants! He does like desert though :) He's turning 30 this year and I wanted to do something special. I think this will be great! Thanks for sharing your brilliant mind!
Love that! What a fabulous idea for a guy who is difficult to buy for...my hubby is the same way. Thanks for the inspiration :)

What a fun and creative idea! My husband is the same way, I might have to borrow this. Oh and BTW, we are glasses twins. Yay! I heart them. ☺ Have a joyous day!

This is such a cute idea!
Such a sweet and thoughtful idea! The description you gave of your husband described my husband exactly! Good opportunity to be creative :)
What a great idea! My husband is the same way, doesn't like parties or dessert. So last year I made him a meat cake. A meatloaf cake frosted with mashed potatoes. I even used a piping bag to make it look like avreal decorated cake.
Jill, you've come up with another great concept! Awesome idea, I'm sure Jared loved it!
PS, I too have been in a little crafty funk lately...have you heard of Pinterest?

What an awesome idea! So thoughtful!
Your husband sounds very similar to mine. Even birthdays the same weekend. Weird.
You are so creative! I can't believe everything you make yourself! Wow a real life wonder woman!! :)
Jill, I'm getting ready to send an email to my husband's family to do this surprise for him. I noticed in some of your photos, the people have the same sign. Did you provide a sign when you asked them to do it? Or did you just ask for them to make a sign? Thanks for the good idea. We are far from family so this will mean a lot.
Allison,
When I initially sent out the email request to family and friends, I attached a sign for them to use if they wanted. Some people used it, and some people got creative and made their own.
Hope your wall turns out well! It was a lot of fun for me to put together.
I just thought that you might like to know that someone I know is doing this for their hubby for his birthday next month. She sent us a link to your blog so that we could understand what she was talking about.
Creativity should be commended. If you are being copied, you should feel flattered.
I just wanted to tell you that I did this for my own hubby a few months ago (then could not for the life of me figure out where I'd seen the idea until just now), and he loved it. I had family members write down favorite memories and email those to me too, with pictures if possible. It turned out better than I could have imagined. Thanks so much for the inspiration. :)
This is such a cute idea! Since you posted it I have been counting down the days til my husband's birthday so I could do this! I linked you to my post. http://craftingwithheart.blogspot.com/2011/10/its-my-hunky-hubbys-22nd-birthday-today.html
