Please forgive my recent absence ... things have been busy around here! Last night we had our annual spring celebration for the women's organization at my church. I had a lot of fun with the decorations this year - the theme was light-oriented, so we went overboard with lanterns, twinkle lights, and etched candle votives (75 of them!). And of course, lots of pretty flowers. You can never go wrong with flowers.
It was a special evening with delicious food, a fun atmosphere, and lovely company. And I'm not kidding on the food - our dessert bar included vanilla bean creme brulee. My mouth is still watering!
p.s. I found my white paper lanterns for a great price at The Paper Lantern Store. I went with the 10 inch lanterns, and they were a nice quality and the perfect size.

It's not an easy thing to take a church gym and make it look so beautiful! I'm sure all of your hard work was greatly appreciated. Thanks for sharing your ideas!
The decorations looks great and I LOVE the new look for your blog :)
Wow, everything turned out fabulous! I love white paired with bright colors in the flowers. I say you did a job well done!
Have a wonderful weekend.

Gorgeous! I need to get some of those lanters for the Mother's Day brunch I am doing.
I'm on the RS committee in my ward, and I always feel so lame when I see your activities with all your decorations! Your so awesome.
That's beautiful. I can't believe how much you can transform the cultural hall with a bit of twinkle lights and a lot of hard work!
You did a great job on the gym. I love the twinkle lights.
i think i need to ward hop! :) How beautiful!
Wish I was in your ward. Beautiful. (How do you have the budget for this stuff?? )
Wow, looks great. Your budget blows ours out of the water!
I'm the RS Meeting Coordinator in my ward too! You should break down these pictures a little more for us! :)
I don't get the budget thing either? We have no money for this kinda party!
The decorations really were not expensive - I only used about $30 of the budget for decorating. I did, however, supplement by purchasing the lanterns (which were inexpensive - only $1.05 each) so I could keep them for my own party supply.
Our relief society closet has a big supply of table cloths to use, and I supplied the center table linens and the vases from my own stuff. I bought $30 worth of flower bouquets at trader joe's for the centerpieces.
I don't know how much the votives were because the RS president purchased those (she gets them somewhere for a wholesale price) and I already had the etching cream and vinyl on hand.
We borrowed christmas lights from ward members.
The food was the most expensive element of the evening. This is our biggest dinner of the year and the biggest chunk of our budget goes to it. I think the food came to about $300 (we had about 60 ladies in attendance).
Wow, that turned out beautifully! AND, um.... Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee?? Beats green jello every day of the week :P haha
i like !!! so sweet !!! french kiss
