happy birthday, ruby!

My sweet and saucy Ruby turns one year old today.  I can't believe how fast this year has flown by!

One of Ruby's very favorite activities is singing the Monkey and Crocodile song.  She thinks it is hysterical and bops along to the song, giggling and grinning.

For her birthday, I made a set of monkey and crocodile finger puppets, and I'd also like to share the template with you.  Get the monkey and crocodile finger puppet template HERE.

If you are not familiar with the song, here is a copy of the text, as we sing it:
We are doing some light birthday celebrations today, but the big shindig is next weekend when we have family in town.  We are doing a double party for Ruby and her cousin, Violet, complete with a festive rainbow theme.  Lots of details to come later.

Happy birthday, Ruby!  I love you.

I'm a speech therapist and sing this song often. I've been wanting to make finger puppets for the monkeys with a hand puppet alligator for quite some time. I think I'm going to use your monkey finger puppets...thank you very much for the idea. Have you heard of the 5 green and speckled frogs, sitting on a speckled log song? It's the same sort of idea. I've made puppets for those too. Thank you for the inspiring ideas!

WE HAVE THIS GAME!! But instead of the crocodile being a finger puppet he is a sock puppet so he can actually snatch things! It's a favorite with the under 4 crowd here lol

I know it from my baby's swim class! Great idea, pinning ;)

I love this song. We finish it with
Along came Mr. Crocodile, quiet as can be and SNAP!!! Monkey for tea.
This always gets a giggle with the preschoolers I use it with.
Now I am going to have to make some finger puppets to use when singing it. Thanks for the tutorial

As you probably know this is all over Pinterest now. Just wondered if you did all the stitching by hand or with a machine?
