Rae is at it again with yet another fabulous children's pattern - the Geranium Dress - available now! I had the pleasure of being a pattern tester and made a happy Christmas dress for Ruby.
The Geranium Dress pattern is very simple with some pick-and-choose variations, and has a Washi Dress feel (it even has options for that signature notched neckline). I was able to cut an sew the whole thing in just a few hours. My favorite part of the pattern is the faux cap sleeve because the bodice is just a front and back - no fussing with little sleeves.
Ruby requested a bow be added, so I happily obliged. To be honest, I didn't measure the fabric, just cut a big and small rectangle that looked about right and made a simple bow. I hand-stitched the center of the bow to the dress and tacked down the top corners to keep them from falling out of place.
Ruby is a happy girl. She has worn this dress three times in the past week. And that, my friends, is a satisfying sew.

So excited about this pattern, but I hate when you guys do this and tease me! I WANT IT NOW!!!!
Very very cute. Does the bow come off and on?
I love the pattern too! You're right about it being for more than just Christmas.
Well done!
Are those curls natural? They are so friggin cute!!! Sweet little dress too!
Dear Jil,
I´m Silke from Germany and I read your wonderful blog since your cozy car caddy tutorial.
Now I see your little girl in this nice dress and I´m wondering the summer-feeling. Is there no Snow???
I don´t know where you live.....
Here it´s cold and rainy. We´re hoping there will be snow on Christmas.
Love from
Silke
Jill - the bow is not removable.
Laura J. - totally natural. This girl gives me hair envy (my curls are not silky perfect like hers).
SiMa - we live in southern California, so winter here is usually quite warm. Hopefully someday soon my kids will get to experience a white Christmas!
love this dress. i'm a sucker for polka dots!
That bow is the perfect finishing touch! Good eye Ruby :) Love those curls too!
Love your version of the Geranium! Our girlies are polka dot Geranium twins. :)
Cute Dress. Lucky you getting to be a pattern tester for such a cute item!
Darling dress and little girl! Love her bow request too.
Both are so beautiful! I have never sewn clothes before but I have a new granddaughter due in January and will have to give it a try! You make it look easy to please lets hope I can do half as good. I will be following your advice on patterns!
The dress is really cute and the bow totally makes it...love! :)
The dress is cute by itself, but the bow makes it totally adorable. =) I like the polka dot fabric you chose. =)
Adorable! I absolutely love the fabric choice, and that bow is perfect.
I am not even doing dresses this year, which I feel totally guilty about. I love giving them new dresses!
